Chamber Shrink Wrapping Machines

A chamber shrink wrapping machine seals and shrinks in one enclosed step. Lay the product on the film, close the hood, and the unit cuts, seals and shrinks the film tight in a single cycle. It's the compact, all-in-one route to a clean finish, well suited to low and medium volumes.

How a chamber shrink wrapper works

A chamber machine combines the sealer and the heat shrink in one hooded unit, so there's no separate tunnel to feed. You place the product on centre-fold film, lower the heated lid, and the L-shaped seal bar trims and seals the film into a pouch while the chamber's hot air shrinks it to the product's shape.

One operator, one bench, one cycle of a few seconds. That's why a chamber suits a packing station with limited floor space and a steady, manageable run rate.

The bigger alternative is a separate L-sealer and shrink tunnel (pictured), which splits the two jobs across two machines for continuous, higher-volume flow. For low and medium volumes, a chamber does both in a far smaller footprint.

Which shrink film to run

Two films cover almost every job. Centre-fold polyolefin is the clean, food-safe choice: clear and strong, approved for cold storage, the right pick for anything edible or premium.

PVC costs less and seals at a lower temperature with high clarity, which suits non-food retail and print. We carry both in widths from 200mm to 600mm, so the film matches the machine and the product.

Which chamber size fits your throughput

Match the chamber to your largest product and your daily volume. The film width sets the limit: a 400mm machine takes products up to roughly its seal frame, an 800mm machine handles bigger boxes and bundles. All three seal and shrink in one operation, run on advanced electronic controls and draw very low energy.

ChamberFilm widthPrice (ex VAT)Best for
Optimax OSC346400mm£1,849.99Best-seller. Retail multipacks, print, cosmetics, smaller cartons
Optimax OSC455600mm£2,055.00Larger single items, or mixed product sizes through one station
Optimax OSC680800mm£3,285.00Bigger boxes, A4-and-up print runs, heavier bundles

The OSC346 is our best-seller and the right starting point for most retail and print work. Step up to the 600mm or 800mm only when your products genuinely need the larger seal frame. Tell us your product dimensions and how many you wrap a day, and we'll point you at the size that fits.

Chamber, or L-sealer and tunnel?

A chamber is the right call for compact, lower-volume work. Once you're wrapping more than about 50 items an hour, or you need a continuous flow off a conveyor, an L-sealer paired with a separate shrink tunnel pulls ahead. It splits sealing and shrinking across two machines, so one feeds the next without waiting.

We stock the Optimax OST455 L-sealer and tunnel combination for exactly that step up. The honest answer is that most small and mid-volume packers are well served by a chamber, and we'll say so rather than sell you a tunnel you don't need.

Not sure where you sit? Send us your product and target rate and we'll tell you which side of that line you're on. The full lineup of chambers, L-sealers and film sits on the shrink wrapping category, and you can compare it against our wider heat sealer range.

Common questions

Does a chamber machine both seal and shrink?

Yes. A chamber shrink wrapper does both in one enclosed cycle: it seals the film into a pouch, then shrinks it tight with hot air. There's no separate tunnel to feed, which is what makes a chamber compact and simple to run.

What size chamber do I need?

Size by your largest product and your daily volume. The 400mm OSC346 suits smaller retail items and print, the 600mm OSC455 handles larger or mixed products, and the 800mm OSC680 takes bigger boxes and bundles. Tell us your dimensions and we'll confirm the fit.

What film does a chamber shrink wrapper use?

Centre-fold polyolefin (food-safe, clear, strong) or PVC (lower cost, lower seal temperature). We supply both in widths from 200mm to 600mm, and we'll test your products free to confirm the right film and setting.

When should I choose an L-sealer and tunnel instead?

Above roughly 50 items an hour, or when you need continuous flow off a conveyor, an L-sealer paired with a separate shrink tunnel pulls ahead. Below that, a chamber is usually the better-value choice. We stock the Optimax OST455 L-sealer and tunnel for the step up.

Are the chambers in UK stock?

Yes. The Optimax chamber range ships from UK stock, with phone support from engineers who service these machines. Call 0121 704 0294 and we'll help you match the size to your products.
