Heavy Duty Heat Sealer
Heavy Duty Heat Sealer
Heavy duty heat sealers handle the jobs that standard bench sealers cannot. Seal lengths from 600mm to 1050mm, thick polythene and sacks, foot pedal operation for hands-free use. Whether you need a floor-standing unit for continuous industrial runs or a sack sealer for bulk packaging, we stock machines from £154.99.

What makes a heat sealer heavy duty
A heavy duty heat sealer is built to seal thick polythene, wide bags, and high volumes that would burn out a standard bench sealer. The defining features are seal length (600mm and above), element wire rated for 500+ gauge polythene (125+ micron), and metal construction designed for continuous industrial use.
Most heavy duty sealers are floor-standing or heavy bench-mount units with foot pedal operation. That matters. Foot pedal control frees both hands for positioning large bags and sacks, which is essential when you are working with wide material or layflat tubing. The 620mm Heavy Duty with Stand is the benchmark in our range — floor-standing, foot operated, with support arms for handling wide material.

Types of heavy duty sealer
Floor-standing foot pedal sealers are the most common choice for industrial environments. Our range includes the 620mm with stand, the PSF805 at 800mm, the PSF605X2A double-element sealer, and the entry-level 600mm foot pedal. The 620mm comes with variants for different support table lengths depending on the width of material you are handling.
Sack sealers are purpose-built for sealing heavy sacks and thick polythene bags. The Hulme Martin HM 3550 is a UK-made bench-top unit designed specifically for this — hand operated with a wide jaw for heavy-gauge sacks.
For the widest bags and liners, the PSS96 at 1050mm is the largest impulse sealer we stock. It handles sacks and liners that no standard machine can reach.

| PSF805 Foot Pedal | 800mm | Floor-standing foot pedal | £359.99 | Wide bags, pallet liners, agricultural |
| PSF605X2A Double Auto | 600mm | Double-element foot pedal | £576.99 | High throughput, double seal strength |
| 600mm Foot Pedal Sealer | 600mm | Floor-standing foot pedal | £154.99 | Budget heavy-duty, standard industrial bags |
Choosing by bag size and material
The seal length you need depends on the bag width. A 600mm seal handles standard industrial bags up to 580mm wide. An 800mm seal covers wider sacks, pallet liners, and agricultural bags. The 1050mm PSS96 takes the largest bags, sacks, and heavy liners available.
For material thickness, all heavy duty sealers in our range handle standard polythene up to 600+ gauge. If you are using layflat tubing to create custom bag sizes on the line, a foot pedal sealer with a wide jaw is the right choice — position the tubing, seal, and cut to length.
If your daily volume exceeds 500 bags and you need continuous, uninterrupted sealing, consider whether a continuous band sealer might be more efficient. Band sealers run at 10–15 bags per minute with a conveyor feed, but they suit thinner materials and pre-made bags rather than the thick sacks and heavy polythene that impulse sealers handle best.

"Hi we just bought a new 600mm vertical automatic sealer from pack sealer we had another unit that was foot peddle controlled and we have had no issues with them. But would recommend."
"Excellent service today from Chris at PackSealer. I needed some parts delivering urgently. Chris dropped everything and got them on their way within the hr for next day delivery. Thanks Chris much appreciated…"
"Wasn't sure which machine was most suitable for my requirements, phoned up and spoke to very friendly and knowledgeable staff member. Ordered a machine based on their advise and it's just what I needed. Would highly recommend."
Common questions
A heavy duty heat sealer has a seal length of 600mm or more, element wire rated for thick polythene (500+ gauge / 125+ micron), and metal construction built for continuous industrial use. Most are floor-standing or heavy bench-mount units with foot pedal operation for hands-free bag positioning.
Floor-standing sealers with foot pedals are the better choice for high-volume industrial use — they free both hands for positioning bags and sacks. Bench-top models like the HM 3550 sack sealer suit lower-volume operations where the sealer sits at a workstation and bags are brought to it.
A double-element sealer like the PSF605X2A has heating elements on both the upper and lower jaw. Both elements fire simultaneously, sealing from both sides of the bag at once. This produces a stronger seal and doubles throughput compared to a single-element machine, making it ideal for thick polythene and high-volume workloads.
Yes. Layflat tubing is one of the most common materials used with heavy duty foot pedal sealers. You feed the tubing through, cut to length, and seal the bottom to create a custom-sized bag. The 620mm and 800mm foot pedal sealers are both well suited to this workflow.
At industrial volume, plan to replace the element wire every 3–6 months depending on duty cycle and material thickness. Thicker polythene and higher daily volumes shorten element life. We stock replacement element wire, PTFE tape, and complete spares kits for every heavy duty sealer in our range.
