Why keeping spare parts on hand matters

Production downtime costs more than any spares kit. When an element wire snaps or wears thin, your sealer produces incomplete seals — and that means wasted product, rejected batches, and a line standing idle. A replacement parts kit on the shelf turns a potential day of lost output into a ten-minute fix. Swap the wire, replace the PTFE tape, and you are back running.

PackSealer stocks spares for every heat sealer they sell, from the PSH hand impulse range through to Audion Magneta and Hulme Martin industrial units. Most kits include everything you need in one box — element wire, PTFE cover tape, and a rubber pressure pad. Stock items ship fast from our Solihull warehouse, so even if you have not planned ahead, you will not be waiting long.

What wears out on a heat sealer

Element wire is the main consumable on any impulse sealer. It is the part that heats up to create the seal, and every cycle puts stress on it. Over time the wire thins, develops hot spots, and eventually breaks. PTFE tape sits over the element and stops bags from sticking to the seal bar — once it tears or burns through, you get messy seals and bag damage.

Rubber pressure pads compress the bag material against the heated element to form a consistent seal. When pads flatten or harden, seal quality drops. Cutter blades on seal-and-cut models dull with use, leaving ragged edges. As a rule, expect to replace element wire and PTFE tape every 3–6 months under regular use, and cutter blades every 6–12 months depending on throughput.

Finding the right spares for your machine

Different sealers need different parts, and fitting the wrong element wire or pressure pad will not give you a reliable seal. PackSealer spares kits in the PSH range are designed for the PackSealer hand and foot pedal impulse sealers — the PSH302, PSH402, and PSH502 each have a matched kit. Audion spares are genuine OEM parts for Sealkid and Magneta sealers, built to the same tolerances as the originals. If you are running a heat sealer for food packaging, getting the correct width element wire is critical for a clean seal.

Hulme Martin heater bars and elements are model-specific — an HM 1300 bar will not fit an HM 2950. Each is machined to match the jaw assembly of that particular sealer. If you are not sure which parts you need, call PackSealer on 0121 704 0294. Give them the model number from the label on your machine and they will identify the correct kit and have it dispatched the same day.

Cross-brand compatibility

PackSealer stocks replacement parts across every brand they sell — not just their own range. That means you do not need to go back to the original manufacturer for spares. Whether you are running a PackSealer PSH hand sealer, an Audion Magneta foot pedal unit, or a Hulme Martin industrial sealer, the parts are available from one supplier with one delivery. This is particularly useful if you run multiple machines from different brands on the same production line.

Beyond brand-specific kits, PackSealer also stocks universal consumables. Element wire sold by the metre lets you cut to length for any machine. PTFE tape rolls and cutter blades fit multiple models across brands. If you are maintaining a heavy duty heat sealer in a demanding production environment, having these consumables on hand eliminates the need to order each time a part wears out. Buy in bulk and keep your spares cupboard stocked.

Common questions

How do I know which spare parts fit my heat sealer?

Check the model number on the label of your machine and match it to the spares kit for that model. PackSealer lists compatible models on every spares product page. If you are unsure, call 0121 704 0294 — give them the model number and they will identify the correct parts.

How often should I replace the element wire on my heat sealer?

Under regular daily use, expect to replace element wire every 3–6 months. Signs it needs replacing include inconsistent seals, visible thinning or discolouration of the wire, and seals that require higher time settings to complete. PTFE tape should be replaced on the same schedule.

Do you stock spares for Audion and Hulme Martin sealers?

Yes. PackSealer stocks genuine OEM spares for Audion Sealkid and Magneta sealers, as well as Hulme Martin heater bars and element assemblies. These are the same parts supplied by the manufacturers, held in UK stock for fast dispatch.

Can I replace heat sealer parts myself or do I need an engineer?

Most impulse sealer spares — element wire, PTFE tape, and pressure pads — can be replaced in minutes without specialist tools. PackSealer can walk you through the process over the phone or via video call if you need guidance. No engineer visit is required for routine maintenance parts.

How quickly do spare parts ship?

Stock items are dispatched promptly from our UK warehouse, with most UK orders arriving within a few working days via tracked delivery. If your situation is urgent, call and they can arrange the fastest available shipping option.

Why won't my heat sealer seal properly?

Four things cause a weak or incomplete seal. A worn element wire is the usual culprit, as it thins with use and loses heat. Torn or burnt PTFE tape lets bags stick and drag. A flattened pressure pad stops the bag pressing evenly against the bar. And the timer may simply be set too low for the film. Work through them in that order. Tell us your model on 0121 704 0294 and we will pin down which part to replace.

Can a heat sealer damage the bag or product?

It can if the heat or dwell time is set too high for the film. Too much heat scorches the plastic, melts through thin bags, or leaves a brittle seal that splits later. The fix is to turn the time setting down and test on a spare bag until you get a clean, full-width seal with no burn marks. Thicker films and laminates need more heat; thin polythene needs very little.

Do you repair heat sealers, or only supply parts?

Both. We repair our PackSealer machines in-house at our Solihull workshop, and we can arrange repairs for the other brands we sell. For most faults you won't need a repair at all, as element wires, PTFE tape and pressure pads are quick to fit yourself and we'll talk you through it on the phone. Call 0121 704 0294 with your model and the symptom and we'll point you to the fastest route back to a working machine.
