"Buy your bags from the same people who sold you the machine."

Compatibility confirmed. Fast dispatch.

Buy your packaging materials from the same people who sold you the machine, and we'll confirm compatibility before you order. We stock polythene bags in light, medium and heavy duty grades, vacuum bags for chamber and probe packers, stand-up pouches with custom print options, and layflat polythene tubing for cutting to length.

Polythene bags come in light gauge (25 to 50 micron) for general packing, medium gauge (50 to 100 micron) for retail and postal, and heavy duty (100 to 200 micron) for industrial parts and heavier items. All heat-sealable with our impulse and continuous band sealers.

Vacuum bags are structured pouches designed for chamber and probe vacuum packers. The multi-layer construction holds the vacuum after sealing. We stock sizes from 150x200mm pouches for individual food portions through to 400x600mm bags for bulkier items. If you've got a Lavezzini or Audion packer, we'll match you to the right bag grade.

Stand-up pouches have a gusseted base and stand on the shelf. Available in clear, kraft-look and custom print options. These suit retail products from coffee and snacks to pet food and supplements.

Layflat tubing is continuous polythene tubing that you cut and seal to whatever length you need. Useful when standard bag sizes don't fit your product. Works with any of our impulse sealers.

Packaging materials FAQs

The questions we get asked most about bags, pouches and tubing for heat sealing, answered straight. If yours isn't here, call and ask.

What's the difference between a vacuum bag and an ordinary polythene bag?

A vacuum bag is built in layers so it holds the vacuum after sealing, which an ordinary polythene bag will not do. Use vacuum bags, sometimes called vacuum pouches, with chamber and probe vacuum packers for food, parts and anything that needs the air drawn out. Use plain polythene bags with an impulse or band sealer for general packing and postal work. Tell us the machine and we'll match the bag. See vacuum packers

What thickness of polythene bag do I need?

Thickness is measured in microns. Light gauge (25 to 50 micron) suits general packing and lighter items. Medium gauge (50 to 100 micron) suits retail and postal goods that need to look the part. Heavy duty (100 to 200 micron) suits industrial parts, sharp edges and heavier loads. If you're unsure, send the product weight and we'll recommend a grade. See polythene bags

Will your bags and pouches fit my machine?

Yes, and we'll confirm it before you order. Bag width has to suit your sealer's seal bar, and vacuum pouches have to suit your chamber or probe packer. The easiest route is to buy your materials from the people who sold you the machine. Tell us your machine model and what you're packing, and we'll match the right size and grade.

What is layflat tubing and when should I use it?

Layflat tubing is continuous polythene tube on a roll that you cut and seal to any length you need. It's the answer when your product won't fit a standard bag size: cut the tube long or short, seal one end, fill it, then seal the other. It works with any impulse sealer, and we stock it in a range of widths and gauges. See polythene tubing

Can I get custom-printed or custom-size bags and pouches?

Yes. Stand-up pouches come in clear, kraft-look and custom print, so you can put your brand on the shelf. Bags and tubing can be made to size when a standard one won't do. Print and bespoke sizes carry a lead time and a minimum quantity, so tell us what you need early and we'll quote it.

What are stand-up pouches best for?

Stand-up pouches have a gusseted base so they stand on the shelf, which makes them the retail choice for coffee, snacks, pet food, supplements and similar products. They take a heat seal across the top and can be supplied with a resealable zip. For higher volumes, pair them with a pouch sealer to keep the finish consistent. See pouches

Do you supply high-temperature or barrier vacuum bags?

Vacuum pouches are barrier bags by design: the multi-layer construction holds the vacuum and keeps oxygen out, which is what extends shelf life. If you need a higher-temperature grade for sous vide or cook-in use, tell us what you're packing and how it's cooked or stored, and we'll match the right bag.

Can I get a sample, or have you test a bag before I order?

Yes. Send us a sample of what you're packing and we'll test it on the matching machine and film, free, before you commit to a quantity. It's how we make sure the bag seals cleanly and holds. A wrong bag bought by the box is an expensive mistake, so we'd rather check first.

How fast can you dispatch, and is there a minimum order?

Bags, pouches and tubing ship from UK stock, with fast dispatch on stock items. Standard lines carry low or no minimum; printed and bespoke sizes carry a minimum quantity and a lead time. Tell us the quantity you're after and we'll confirm stock, price and dispatch before you order. Call 0121 704 0294.
