A standard flat-jaw impulse sealer is designed for flat bags laid horizontally on the jaw. Stand-up pouches — doypacks, resealable gusseted bags, and zip-lock stand-up bags — need to be supported vertically during sealing. Without that support, the pouch tips, the fill material shifts toward the seal zone, and the result is a contaminated, weak, or failed seal.

The solution is a sealer with an integrated shelf or cradle — one that holds the pouch at the correct height while the jaw seals cleanly across the top.
