The PSC980Q is a 980mm continuous band sealer with nitrogen gas flushing, built for food production lines packing oxygen-sensitive products: coffee, snacks, fresh and dried foods, powders. It seals and batch-codes like the PSC980, then flushes the bag with nitrogen first to slow oxidation and hold shelf life.

The gas flush system displaces the air before the seal closes, which is the core of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP). It ships horizontal with a vertical conversion kit included, prints up to 14 characters a bag, and runs polythene, polypropylene, laminates, and cellophane at up to 300 degrees C. Sealing speed and temperature adjust to the material and bag size.

The buyers we see for this machine are roasters and food producers whose product goes stale, rancid, or clumpy in normal air: coffee beans and grounds, nuts and snacks, milk powders, dried herbs. Flushing the bag with nitrogen on the line, as part of the same pass that seals and codes it, is what turns a weeks-long shelf life into months without changing the recipe or the bag.

Before you buy: the ink printer

The PSC980Q uses the same built-in ink printer as the PSC980: up to 14 characters hot-stamped onto the bag as it passes, letters and numbers supplied.

Straight answer on it: this is a small-volume tool. For short runs it does the job. It is not suitable for high-volume production printing, and it needs looking after: in regular use the print mechanism needs cleaning and maintenance pretty much daily. That is how it operates, not a fault, but you should know it before you order.

Send us your actual bags. We'll run them on this machine, print on them, and tell you what to expect with your film. Free, and you have the answer before you've spent anything.

If the code has to be right every time (an audit trail, a retailer spec, a regulated product), or you're printing hundreds of bags a shift, talk to us before you order. Printing you can guarantee at volume is a heavier machine and a different budget. We'd rather say that now than sell you this one twice.

    Common questions

    What does gas flushing do?

Gas flushing replaces the air inside the bag with nitrogen just before sealing. Removing oxygen slows oxidation and bacterial growth, which holds the shelf life of perishable products. This is modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).

What is the difference between the PSC980Q and PSC980?

The PSC980 seals and prints but does not flush with gas. The PSC980Q adds nitrogen flushing for MAP. Both include ink printing and a vertical conversion kit as standard.

What products benefit from gas flush sealing?

Any product where oxygen causes spoilage or degradation: fresh and dried foods, coffee, pharmaceutical powders, seeds, and oxygen-sensitive chemicals.

Do I need my own nitrogen supply?

Yes. The machine connects to your nitrogen supply (a cylinder or a line feed) and flushes each bag from it as the bag is sealed. Tell us your throughput when you order and we will advise on a sensible supply setup.

How much does a band sealer with nitrogen flushing cost?

The PSC980Q is £1,375 ex VAT, which includes the ink printing system and the vertical conversion kit. It is UK stock, dispatched from our Solihull warehouse, with belts and ink rollers held in stock here.

Will the ink printer keep up with my line?

The PSC980Q itself runs hundreds of bags a shift without trouble. The printer is the part to check: it is built for small volumes, and in daily use the mechanism needs cleaning and maintenance most days. If you are printing at volume, or the code has to be right every time, tell us before you order and we'll point you at the machine built for that, even if it's not this one.
